Activity continues!!!

Yesterday, we had another activities that suitable for kids and not forgetting, us;). We held the activities at Mu'izzah's house around 5pm. Many of her siblings friends come to join our activities. First, we explained to them about what is orangutan, their population, why they are almost extinct and others info about orangutan.

Muizzah is explaining to the children about the orangutan

Then, after all the explanation, we were having a short quizzes to test their understanding and their memory about the orangutan's info we gave during the explanation. Here's the photos.

They are so excited to answer the questions because the questions was so easy

Ainul Zulaikha, 7, the one with red shirt won the quiz. She was a very fast thinker among them.

Then, we held a drawing competition. Most of the children taking part in this competition because the prizes was quite great;). Other than that, you know, kids. They love drawings so much...

Ain is drawing tree as symbol of orangutan habitat

Munirah is drawing a hanging orangutan

Yeay! Finally Iyah has already finished her drawing

The winner!!!

For the last activity, we did some 'handprint'! We coloured our palm with some colours and paste it on a white cloth. All the kids had so much fun! Then, they took picture together.

Happily 'print' their hand :D

Locomotion Of Orangutans

Orangutans usually move by swinging from one branch to another; this is called brachiating. Orangutans can also walk using their legs (but rarely do). Orangutans do not swim.

Life Span Of Orangutans

Orangutans live about 50 years in captivity.

Their life span in the wild is only 30-45 years (like most animals, they live longer in captivity).

Population Of Orangutans

Orangutans are an endangered species. They are decreasing in numbers quickly as they lose habitat to people. If we don't protect them now, I wonder if the next generation will ever know about orangutans.

Further aggravating the problem, baby orangutans are caught and sold around the world as pets.
